You are not alone

By this article I want to make a statement, that in whatever direction you want to go in your life, whatever obstacle physically or socially that you need to overcome in order to get where you want to be, well know that you are not alone.
It’s funny to admit that it has taken me so long to finally realize this. Fights have been fought on every field; on the feminism scale, on the racial scale, on the mental and physical scale and on the religion scale. But still somehow when we go through life and we find ourselves in the middle of one or more of these fights, we isolate ourselves and think that we’re hopeless and lonely. While it doesn’t take that much research to know that we are not alone in whatever fight we are on.
Each person on this planet comes to life with his or her baggage of challenges that he or she has to overcome. Some succeed in it spectacularly and become great leaders for others in the same field while others struggle with it for a longer time and succeed eventually in a more modest way. But anyhow everyone have to go through life and face their battles. You might forget it when you’re alone breaking your head over a certain matter, but let me remind you that you are not alone. Somewhere in the corner of this beautiful planet, there is or better said there are people who fight the same fight as you right now.
In a presentation a heard someone said that you can choose any subject you want in a certain field, and you go to a library and you will find at least 10books that talks about that subject. So it has been done before or someone is doing it right now, but in any case you are not alone.
Honestly, realizing this took a big load off my shoulders; I started to think about the few things that I actually saw as big challenges but knowing that I was not alone made me regain a certain relaxation and found a kind of peace with the current situation. It took some of the load and fear away.
Let me give you an example to explain this theory:
When you are a teacher, well it’s your job to teach children, but you know that whatever you do, it is still a small part of their environment. So you can try to make sure that you have a big positive impact on their lives, (and I hope you’ll do) but at the end of the day, their teachers are their parents, their other teachers and most of all the world they live in that will make a big impact of who they become.
My point with this is to make you understand that it might feel heavy at times, as if you are carrying the world on your shoulders but at the end, yes your input is important but; no don’t think that without you the world will stop turning. So relax, cause you are not alone.
I know when we look at the history we tend to see something different. History books never really points out that there were a lot of people needed to build and shape that one example that we see as leaders. There is always one man that stands out of the crowd and makes the difference. So we’re kind of socially preprogrammed to believe that it takes the courage of one single person to change the world. But, and this might surprise you; it isn’t true. Yes, there will be pioneers, but those pioneers could not have been who they are if it wasn’t for the one surrounded them. This is the reason why you often hear the best speeches start with the remarkable sentence: I stand on the shoulders of giants…
What I am trying to say is not that you can’t reach your goals on your own cause you need someone to lift you up. No, I am not saying that. What I want you to know is that whatever challenge you are facing right now, it might be losing weight, getting a divorce, being the first black CEO of your company or even the first one to graduate in your family, rehabilitation after a heavy accident …
It doesn’t matter what you are going through, you have to understand that you are not alone.
Even the greatest were surrounded by the greatest to get where they are. So relax your shoulders, lift your head up, get away from that corner and put a smile on your face. Tell yourself if today didn’t work out, well I will try again tomorrow and the day after that and the one that comes next. Why? Well because many others are in facing the same challenges as you are now and they are fighting too. So why would you give up? If you knew how many people out there are working towards world peace putting their best efforts to get the same results as you right now you would be surprised; this might actually give you a sence of security or confidence to know that even though not everyone talks about and don’t really put it out there till they made it and the fight is done; well know that many have to go through the mud like you are going now to get where they want to be.
There are 7 billion people in this world and let’s say at least 10 000 people are fighting in the same field as you are now. So lift your head up and smile, cause you know now that you are not alone.
